A Late Bloomer: a new VR Dance work

'A Late Bloomer' was first an inspiration for a site-specific dance work inside Cheong Fatt Tze (aka Blue Mansion) and evolved into a hybrid, virtual reality/ dance work located inside numerous mansions, a cultivated garden, streets, jetties, jungle and hawker stalls of Penang. In the virtual realm there is a sense of wonder and magic, however for some it is the dread of the futureverse.

This new work is anchored in cultural memory and how we carry stories in our bodies and into the future. Exploring ideas about trade, heritage and identity, what is lost and what is worth saving?

Three dancing muses are the driving soul of ‘A Late Bloomer'are pictured here Kar Kah Chan, Luvenia Kalia, Ruby Jayaseelan.

Thanks to Peta Khan, Maitree House and Cahaya XR for your exceptional work and all the artists and partners that supported us.

And to the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur for their financial support and belief in the importance of this special cross-cultural collaboration, thank you.
