CLASS CONTENT

My teaching philosophy focuses on embodiment. Embodiment is the key to dance. It requires a centring in the body that allows the dancer-student to absorb information from the teacher and transmute or interpret this into their body so it becomes personal expression, rather than mimicked. Once this awareness is understood from an internal place (somatic) and without the reliance of mirrors (kinaesthetic) then the dancer-student can to begin to express authentically.

Learning alignment and safe dance practice, techniques for increasing your musicality and rhythm as a dancer are also fundamental to embodiment. And… I love to create fresh choreographies and contemporary aesthetics to flamenco. I hope you will join me.

Technique: Rhythms, footwork, marking, arms, turns, alignment.

Choreography: Learning a flamenco palo (style).

Performance Style: Stagecraft, presence and focus for performances.

Workshops: Guest artists share their specialised knowledge.

Children: Young people in a non-competitive creative environment.

Privates: One-on-one class to focus on your specific needs. By arrangement.
